Normal Light Keeps Flashing
Normal light keeps flashing on Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner III. Tried resetting by cutting electric. Comes back on. Is there a sequence that works to run diagnostics?
My quiet partner I, stop working, START AND CANCEL/DRAIN button wont light on. opened the console, found that green ribbon has two line broken, tried to use thin copper wire to connect the broken point, but cancel/drain light is always on, any suggestion?
by Ben K
I tried all the buttons on the front panel after trying the heat dry button suggested for weeks…. when I finally was giving up and decided I couldn’t break what was already broken to open the panel … my phillips screwdriver didn’t work so I took the handle and started lightly tapping across the top of the panel and the light went off immediately. I opened the door closed it again and it allowed me to start a wash cycle… praise the LORD… Oh I forgot to mention I prayed over it….
CHECKING KEYPAD OPERATION
A rapidly blinking LED over one of the keys of the keypad
indicates one or more key switch lines are stuck or shorted on either the control or the keypad.
To determine if the control or keypad is faulty, do the following test:
1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.
2. Open the dishwasher door.
3. Open console and disconnect the keypad ribbon connection from the control .
Make sure all other connections are made.
4. Put console back together. Do not close the dishwasher door.
5. Plug in dishwasher or reconnect power.
Lights Flashing Nothing Wprks
Our whirlpool quiet partner ii dishwashers HEATED WASH, NORMAL, AND CANCEL lights were flashing when we got up this morning. Worked fine yesterday. Tried going through the reset cyle and umpluggong it and going back through reset. At a loss for what to try next any advice?
duane, try to reset your dishwasher first. To reset it, you will have to have the door open. It can not be latched. Press “Heated Dry,””Normal,””Heated Dry,””Normal” within three seconds of the first pressed button. Now close the door, this should reset your dishwasher. For some of the newer dishwasher, those that do not have dedicated ‘heat dry’ and ‘normal’ buttons, you push any 3 buttons in the following sequence: 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3, with no more than a second between each button push. That will put the dishwasher in diagnostic mode. Let us know what you get and what exact model your DW is.

Close The Dishwasher Door
When you have pressed the buttons, it is now time to close the dishwasher door.
You will want to make sure the dishwasher door is pressed in and it does click. The sound should come when you close it or it is still loose.
You will want to make sure it has been latched into place.
This is important as it is the only way you are going to get the dishwasher door to the next step without causing it to keep blinking.

Whirlpool Dishwasher Green Light Keeps Flashing
A flashing green light signifies that the water isnt getting heated to the required operating temperature. When the problem occurs, the primary culprit is usually a burned-out heating element or heating element assembly.
In either case, youll need to use a multimeter to test the heating element for continuity. If you dont detect any continuity, youll need to replace either the heating element or its assembly.
Checking fault codes may also help when the flashing green light is accompanied by an error code on display. To understand what the error code means, consult your units tech sheet, wiring diagram, and manual.

What Does It Mean When All The Lights Are Flashing On My Dishwasher

Dish washing machine LED lights are designed to start flashing when theres a problem.
If Start/Resume key LED is flashing slowly, the washer is indicating that the door might have been opened in the midst of a cycle or there is a power interruption .
If it wont start and all LEDs are flashing , it is pointing out that there could be a hardware/software incompatibility fault with the control .
This can occur, for example, if a control that is not compatible with the machine is installed.
Also, if it wont start and the Start/Resume key light is flashing 3 times, it indicates that door switch contacts could be stuck closed.
Keep in mind that some of these machines are programmed to fail to start if control suspects the door switch is stuck closed.
Remember the control will be looking for the door to open itself automatically once it has completed washing.
You can confirm if there is an issue with the door switch by running service diagnostics.

Whirlpool Dishwasher Flashing Red Lights
More often than not, a Whirlpool dishwasher wont run a cycle when the red lights are flashing. Usually, the problem is either a bad control board or a door thats not latched correctly. To fix the problem, try latching the door first. If it doesnt, the latch needs replacement.
If addressing the door doesnt stop the red lights from blinking, the control board is faulty. Unfortunately, theres little you can do to repair it, so you may be better off buying a new one.
The Heating Element Is Faulty Or Damaged
When the heating element of the whirlpool dishwasher gets damaged, the appliance wont be able to heat water any longer.
The might therefore, result in a blinking light displayed by the dishwasher sanitize LED.
Every dishwasher has a heating element or water heater and you can actually check if its faulty or not before taking other necessary procedures.
The responsibility of the heating element is to ensure that water is hot at the required temperature.
In addition to making it available for the dishwasher in order to avoid a shut down or the sanitize LED blinking multiple times.

Why Does My Whirlpool Dishwasher Need A Reset
Dishwashers have a control board that manages all its functions. It also specifies the time period for which cycle will run.
Due to problems with the power supply or electrical surges, the control board doesnt get the power it needs to run smoothly. This can cause it to stop working altogether, or get stuck in a loop. Sometimes, it also starts displaying error codes for no reason at all.
In most cases, a simple reset does the job for your appliances.
The Temperature Requirements For Sanitization Were Reached Or Met
Another reason why the Sanitize led lights could light up is because the water has reached a certain degrees which is insufficient for sanitize cycle to take place.
Note that the sanitize LED wont light if the sensor of the dishwasher doesnt sense that the water has reached the minimum temperature requirement.
The water temperature should be at a minimum of 120°F or between 155°F to 160°F.
Sometimes the sanitize portion of the cycle might not complete, which implies that water did not reach the recommended temperature.
This is a common reason why the sanitize light on your dishwasher panel continues to blink.

A faulty door switch or a malfunctioning touchpad is one of the most common causes your Whirlpool dishwasher not starting even with lights blinking.
Try pressing some of the buttons to see if the touchpad is working properly. You have a malfunctioning touchpad if some of them respond appropriately while others do not.
The touchpad is the area where you can program buttons to control the dishwasher and cycle through several choices. It can impair how well your dishwasher cleans if it isnt working.

Faulty Whirlpool Dishwasher Parts
If the above tips dont do the trick, a faulty part may be responsible for your Whirlpool dishwasher not starting.
The following part failures can prevent an immediate start:
- Thermal fuse: The thermal fuse will blow if its defective or if the dishwasher is in danger of overheating. If the fuse fails multimeter testing, it has blown and requires replacement for the dishwasher to start.
- Main control board: This computerized board governs all dishwasher operations, sending voltage to the appropriate functions when it receives a signal from the control panel. If it malfunctions, the control board wont provide the power needed to start the dishwasher and must be professionally replaced.
- Timer: Like the control board, the timer governs the voltage to certain functions at certain times. If the timer is faulty, the dishwasher may not receive power to start and must be replaced by a professional service.

First Three Green Lights Keep Flashingcan’t Start Or Cancel
Three of my dishwasher lights have started flashing and at first I could cancel and they would quit. Now I can’t even do that. I tried the normal/heated dry reset that someone else offered on a different problem, but that didn’t work–probably because I can’t get a button push in edgewise between the rapid flashing. Any ideas?
Cause 1
Heating Element
The heating element heats up the water to operating temperature. If the water doesnt reach the proper temperature after a set amount of time, a light on the control panel might start flashing. To determine if the heating element has burned out, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the heating element does not have continuity, replace it.
Cause 2
Heating Element Assembly
The heating element assembly heats up the water to operating temperature. If the water doesnt reach the correct temperature after a set amount of time, a light on the control panel might start flashing. To determine if the heating element assembly has burned out, use a multimeter to test the heating element for continuity.
Cause 3
Check Fault Codes
If the dishwasher lights are flashing or blinking, and there is an error code in the display window, consult the wiring diagram, tech sheet, and dishwasher manual to find out more information about the error.

The Dishwashers Control Board Isnt Working
If the control panel on your Frigidaire dishwasher isnt working, there could be a problem with the ribbon cable connectors and/or touchpad.
Open the control panel of the unit via the front panel. Clean the ribbon cable connectors of corrosion, check the condition of the cable going to the touchpad, and secure all connections to the panel.
You may have to replace the entire control board if its broken. Otherwise, the unit may not start again even with the lights blinking.

Why Is My Whirlpool Dishwasher Sanitize Light Blinking
Situations might occur whereby your dishwasher sanitize light might keep blinking for a while.
The most common reason for this is probably due to a damaged part or perhaps system malfunctioning.
Here are some reasons why this issue might have occurred in the first instance.
Dishwasher Water Supply Problem

Why wont my Whirlpool dishwasher turn on if it has power and is correctly set and latched? A water supply issue could be at fault. If the dishwasher wont start or fill, make sure the water supply line is properly connected and the water valve is turned on.
Just as a dishwasher wont drain water if the drain hose is kinked, pinches in the water line can restrict water flow from your home supply. Gently straighten any kinks that can block water from flowing. Lastly, make sure the dishwashers water inlet valve is opening and closing properly. If its stuck in the closed position, water wont flow to the dishwasher. A defective inlet valve should be professionally replaced.

Troubleshoot The Door Switch Further
There could be a loose connection in the units door switch circuit or even the door switch contacts stuck might be open.
There is a chance the door switch is not making contact due to reasons such as:
- The units door latch assembly is sloppy.
- The door switch is experiencing high resistance.
Potential solutions
If you have not been successful, use a meter to check resistances of the door switch contacts along with all connections in the entire door switch circuit .
If you notice high resistance with the door closed, check/fix all loose connections.
Quick Tip: Resistance tests must be performed with the dishwasher unplugged/power disconnected
Resetting The Control Board
Sometimes, the control board of your Whirlpool dishwasher needs a reboot to function properly. It can develop problems due to an electrical outage or power surge.
Heres what you do:
- Press the Off button on the dishwasher. Then remove its power cable.
- Wait 5 minutes, and then plug in the cable again. Turn on your dishwasher and select the Pots & Pans or High setting from the control panel.
- Now select any Heat cycle to dry the dishes youre washing. After 1-2 minutes, repeat the cycle selection once again and see if the dishwasher is working properly.
If this doesnt reset your Whirlpool dishwasher, you can try the next method.
