Are Kitchenaid Bowls Dishwasher Safe
I think I speak for all of us when I say that cleaning up sucks! After countless hours of standing in a warm kitchen prepping and baking goodies, the last thing I want to do is scrub a sink full of dirty dishes and mixing bowls. Even some of the most simple recipes we all know and love can create an amazing amount of mess. Thankfully, most of our baking tools can be bundled into the dishwasher
But what about your stand mixer bowls? Can you put a Kitchenaid bowl in the dishwasher? are they dishwasher-safe?
Theres quite a lot of confusion out there about this, so allow me to clear a few things up.

Why Cant You Wash Stainless Steel In The Dishwasher
Not only does this make it harder to get these tools clean, but it also provides dishwasher detergent with the perfect opportunity to dry into the handles, slowly corroding the material. This may lead to rust on the inside, which can deteriorate the condition of the utensil and may lead to problems with rust. continue reading

Choosing A Kitchenaid Bowl By Size
If youre looking to pick out a new KitchenAid bowl, then the size might have already been determined by your machines size. If you have a Mini stand mixer or even an Artisan Mini, you will need to get either a 3.3L/3.5 quart-sized bowl. Most people, however, tend to have either the KitchenAid Classic or Artisan models and therefore require the slightly larger bowls between 4.3-4.8L / 4.5-5 quart. Finally, if youre a full-time baking professional, you have probably ended up with a professional-sized KitchenAid, and these bowls are anywhere from 5L-6.9L / 7 quart.
Tip: If you havent purchased a stand mixer, I would recommend going for the largest size you can afford. Too many times Ive had to split down recipes or do two batches of egg whites when the machine has just been slightly too small to fit everything in the bowl.
If youve already got a KitchenAid you might be wondering, how to tell how many quarts my KitchenAid mixer is? If you look at the bottom of the bowl it will usually be engraved into the base. Although youll eventually learn to tell the difference just by looking.
Kitchenaid Glass Vs Stainless Steel Bowls:
The KitchenAid Classic Mixer Bowls are available in both glass and stainless steel version. The metal construction, polished stainless steel mixing bowl version is dishwasher safe only on the top rack. This means that you will have to take special care of your stainless steel bowl home appliance in order for it not to get damaged. The die-cast, refurbished, griddle, burnished incorporated glass version on the other hand is safe for use in your dishwasher or microwave, just like the traditional glass bowls that you find in most kitchens.
Some people prefer glass because it works better under high heat and is also more durable. I do not think there is much difference between the strength of the material from one manufacturer to another, since all glass bowls are extremely strong and can handle whatever you throw at them. The only difference that I have found is that my glass bowl cleans up much easier than my stainless steel bowl under an intense cleaning routine.
I must admit though that my stainless steel bowl still looks amazing. I love the way it looks and I am sure that after some time it will still look like new. It is also more durable than the glass version.
