Problem With Water Supply

Water supply issues can also be responsible when your GE dishwasher wont start. Make sure the water supply valve to the dishwasher is in the on position and assess the water supply hose for kinks or tears. While you can carefully straighten any kinks in the hose, a cracked or leaking hose requires replacement.

If the supply valve and hose are functioning properly, a GE dishwasher not starting may be due to a defective water inlet valve. This valve opens and closes to allow water to enter the dishwasher at the right points in the wash cycle. We suggest that a professional service assess and replace the water inlet valve as needed.

What Goes In The Dishwashers Lower Rack

GE Profile Dishwasher- How To Use

When loading the lower rack, think about the location of the detergent dispenser, spray arms and water jets. You want the water and detergent to circulate properly during the wash cycle, so its important that the spray arms can circulate fully and the dispenser is not blocked by a large item. Newer models no longer require that the dirty sides of your dishes and dinnerware face to center, the latest water jet systems work great when all of the dishes face in the same direction.

Items that can be placed in the bottom rack include:

How Do You Start A Ge Dishwasher

Controls for the Dishwasher Prior to starting the washing cycle, you may choose from a variety of preset wash plans and choices in the GE dishwasher. You then hit the Start/Reset button to begin the cycle after you have picked your options. The cycle will begin with the dishwasher filling with water, and it should begin washing within 60 seconds of the water being added.

    Load The Dishwasher Racks

For best dishwashing results, follow these loading guidelines. Features and appearance of racks and silverware baskets may vary from your model.

    1. Upper Rack

Although the upper rack is for glasses, cups, and saucers, pots and pans can be placed in this rack for effective cleaning. Cups and glasses fit best along the sides. This is also a secure place for dishwasher-safe plastics.

The upper rack is adjustable to add flexibility in loading your dishwasher. To lower, push tabs in and lower rack. To raise, just pull up on the rack until it snaps.

The utility shelf may be placed in the up or down position to add flexibility. A wine glass holder secures wine glasses for best washability. Because wine glasses come in various sizes, after loading, slowly push in the rack to make sure they will clear the top of the dishwasher.

The upper rack is good for all kinds of odd-shaped utensils. Saucepans, mixing bowls, and other items should be placed face down. Fold-down tines provide flexibility for extra-large and hard-to-fit items.

    • Secure larger dishwasher-safe plastics over 2 tines when possible.
    • Make sure small plastic items are secure so they cant fall onto the heater. Be sure that items do not protrude through the bottom of the rack and block rotation of the middle spray arm.
    • This could result in poor wash performance for items in the upper rack.
    • Check to make sure that no items will block rotation of the wash arms.
