Ge Profile Dishwasher Reset Procedure
For PDW8000 GE profile dishwasher series, you reset by pressing the reset button just once- the reset process can take about 2 minutes.
The procedure is however lightly different for PDW9000 GE profile dishwasher series
For the latter you have to open the door about an inch then wait a few moments for the dishwasher to stop.
Once it has stopped, press/touch the reset button the washing cycle will be canceled and the panel rebooted.
The above button method will not always work but fortunately, there is an alternative.
Now, if the reset button did not quite succeed to reset your dishwasher, try to disconnect it from power for a few moments then power it back up and see if it will reset.
Here you can turn off the circuit breaker or simply via the wall switch .
Note that you should allow 30 seconds before you restore power.
This is likely to reset the panel successfully .
Quick Tip: When restarting it after the dishwasher resets itself, be sure the door is shut and fully latched then try to press the right control panel buttons to see if your problem has been resolved.

Ge Dishwasher Soap Dispenser Not Locking
GE dishwashers use three types of soap dispensers depending on the model. They are round detergent cups, square flip-up detergent cups, and sliding detergent cups.
The round detergent cup has a handle and you have to close it by rotating it clockwise till you hear a click sound.
The square flip-up cover operates vertically. You have to flip it up to open and flip down to close. The sliding cup is pretty self-explanatory. It slides to its position to open and close.
If you did everything right and the soap dispenser is still not locking, here are a few things that you can do:
Option Two: Rebooting The Dishwasher
Like resetting, rebooting the dishwasher is quite an easy task. You can reboot your GE dishwasher by removing it from the power source for a few minutes. You can also detach it straight from the circuit breaker of the house.
The control panel might be back up and running when you turn it back on.
Be sure to take necessary electrical precautions at this stage to avoid any electrical accidents.

Have you tried wiggling it side to side? The diswasher may not be secured properly and will vibrate while running. If the counter opening is relatively small it can be hard to open the door if the dishwasher is off center.

Make sure the dial that you turn to start the dishwasher is all the way to the beginning. Sometimes my little grandson comes by and plays with it, turning it. I load, add soap and the dispenser wont close. I check the outside dial, and sure enough, set it to the very beginning and the dispenser locks in place!

Disable The Lock Controls Feature
About this: When the control panel is unresponsive despite having power, remember that GE Profile dishwashers come with a Lock Controls feature.
It disables most of the control panel buttons as a safety feature when enabled.
That way, no one can adjust your dishwasher settings, especially children who might not know what theyre doing.
What to do: Look closely at your dishwasher control panel, and youll see one or more buttons labeled Lock Controls. Press and hold the button for at least 3 seconds to unlock the feature, making the buttons responsive again.
Replace Ge Profile Dishwasher Control Board
The final thing you might need to consider doing is replacing the control board .
You see, control board controls nearly all functions in the dishwasher so the dishwasher is unlikely to start and the control panel wont work if it is defective .
Note that this should be the last resort so try all the above things before proceeding with this fix .
Quick Tip: Before going for a replacement board, try to unplug the main feed and plugging it back in. It could be a loose connector issue so the board might resume sending voltage to the panel once properly re-attached.

Test The Motor Start Relay
The motor start relay signals the dishwasher motor to start. Locate it near the pump, behind the lower access panel of the dishwasher. Remove the relay and refer to the wiring diagram. With the multimeter set on Rx1, test the coil for continuity. It should produce a reading of zero.
Then, manually activate the relay by turning it upside down, and allowing the plunger to drop. Touch the probes to the relay terminals. Expect a reading of zero. If your readings differ, replace the motor start relay.

The Ge Dishwashers Control Panel Is Locked
The GE dishwasher comes with an extra safety feature that locks the control panel. For instance, the child lock feature prevents the dishwasher from being used accidentally by kids around the house.
The reason why your GE dishwasher control panel is not working might be because the child lock safety feature has been reactivated.
The safety measure is activated by pressing the child lock button once. However, you can easily deactivate it by pressing the same button down for about three seconds.
When You Hear The Dishwasher Activate Let It Run
Keep an eye out for the lock and other control panel display lights to flicker and turn off. Rebooting occurs as the dishwasher enters diagnostic mode.
Various sections, such as the heating elements, will activate. Wait a few minutes for the dishwasher to finish running.
The dishwashers software is thoroughly inspecting all of its components. At this moment, do not attempt to open the door or fiddle with the controls.
The lock light should remain off when the procedure is complete.

Turn Off The Dishwasher
If you are facing any trouble locking the soap dispenser, the first thing you have to check is if the dishwasher is turned off. If the machine stays on during the procedure, the soap covers will not lock in their position.
There are different methods for turning off electrical dishwashers and mechanical dishwashers. I will discuss both of them below:
For electrical GE dishwashers press the start or the reset button twice. This should reset your GE dishwasher after pumping out all the remaining soaps. Once done, try closing the soap dispenser. This should work.
For a mechanical dishwasher, you will have to use the timer knob. Put the timer knob to off position. This will turn off the dishwasher and the soap dispenser will now lock. Also, if you are using a tablet of soap instead of liquid, make sure that the tablet isnt interfering with the locking mechanism.

Ge Profile Dishwasher Has A Faulty Main Control Board
Because the control board is in charge of practically all tasks in the dishwasher, it is doubtful that the dishwasher will start and the control panel operate if the board is faulty.
Please keep in mind that replacing the main control board is an option to consider only if all other fixes have failed. You first want to make sure you diagnose the unit properly and fix all potential issues before you think about replacing the control board.
If anything, be careful about the troubleshooting, as misdiagnosis can be costly.
Before purchasing a replacement board, try unplugging and re-plugging the main feed to the board. The control panel of the dishwasher may simply have failed because of a loose connection. So a correct re-attachment should be enough to get the panel to start working again.
The Ge WD21X24799 Dishwasher Electronic Control Board is a good example of a control board to consider if you need a more reliable replacement. GE recommends unplugging the dishwasher before installing this control board.
