Make Sure The Door Switch Is Working
The second step is to make sure the door switch is working correctly. The purpose of the door switch is to prevent the door from opening during a wash cycle. Sometimes they can become faulty, and this causes the control panel to believe the door isnt shut properly, which results in the control panel not letting the dishwasher start.
Checking the door switch requires testing it with a multimeter to do that:

Ge Dishwasher Not Starting Light Blinking
Here are some possible causes and solutions to fix the problem.
One potential reason your GE dishwashers not starting light is blinking could be due to a power issue. Make sure the dishwasher is plugged into a working outlet, and if it is, try resetting the circuit breaker.
Another possibility is that the door isnt closed properly. check to make sure the door is shut all the way and that theres nothing blocking it from latching.
If neither of those solutions fixes the problem, then its likely an issue with the dishwasher itself. You can try resetting it by unplugging it for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in. If that doesnt work, you may need to call a repairman.

To turn the control lock ON, press the Heated Dry pad for 4-6 seconds. Look for the lock icon to glow. Pressing any part of the pad while its on will make the light flash three times.
But the dishwasher will not respond to the selection. To turn the control lock OFF, press the Heated Dry pad for 4-6 seconds. Look for the lock icon to stop glowing and try to start the machine.
Test The Door Latch Switch

Remove the inner door panel to access the door latch assembly at the top of the door. Make sure the catch engages the door latch switch when it is inserted into the latch assembly. If all appears to work properly, use a multimeter to test the switches for continuity. With the multimeter set on Rx1, touch the probes to the switch terminals. The reading should be at or near zero. If your reading is different, replace the door latch assembly.

Ge Dishwasher Not Starting Check These 4 Things
Your dishwasher is loaded and the detergent dispenser is filled, but nothing happens when you press the Start button. Does this sound familiar? Though a GE dishwasher not starting can feel like a cause for panic, theres no need to fear the worst. Checking for common causes like power issues and incorrect cycle settings can solve the problem quickly and easily.
Check The Door Switch Operation
The door switch is commonly a culprit when a dishwasher wonât start or run.
Here you may need to enter the error code mode .
To switch to the diagnostics error code mode:
When the appliance is in Stand-by Mode , proceed to press and hold down these two buttons combined for 5 seconds..
Cycle Select + Start .
The machine will perform a Door Status Check for 10 seconds on entering diagnostic error codes mode.
Note that if all the LEDs illuminate solidly, the door will have been detected as latched firmly.
On the other hand, you should try to shut the door correctly if all the LEDs are flashing at the end of the check.
Quick Tip: Be sure to press the âStartâ pad within 5 to 10 seconds of shutting the door.
Side note: These machines also usually fail to start if the door latch is not functioning properly so it is important to check and repair/replace the latch, if needed.
Remember to troubleshoot door problems further if they persist .

Ge Dishwashers Lock Light Is Blinking
Depending on the model, some controls start blinking their Lock light when the child lock is enabled. When this happens, the controls on the dishwasher are unresponsive, and several buttons will also start blinking when you press on them.
So before you start to panic and do a hard reboot. We suggest that you check if the child lock is enabled.
In some models, the light above the Lock button will be blinking or just switched on. If there is no Lock button on your control panel, then look for the Heated Dry button, which also shares the Lock function.
You can disengage the lock by pressing the Lock button twice or holding the Heated Dry button for 3 seconds.
Put The Dishwasher In Service Mode To Reset The Dishwasher
Many GE dishwasher models have a service mode that you can utilize. Some also refer to this mode as diagnostic mode. Regardless of the term, the function is the same.
You can enter this function on most models by holding the Start button down for five seconds. Then, once the Start button begins flashing, hold the button down along with the Select Cycle button for another five seconds.
In some other models, you can enter it by holding down only the Cycle Select button. But, again, consult your instruction manual to see the proper method for your device.

Does A Ge Dishwasher Have A Fuse

A dishwasher thermal fuse allows the control board to receive power. When a thermal fuse blows, the dishwasher wont start at all. If you suspect that your thermal fuse is blown, you can unplug it to test its continuity. To access the thermal fuse on your dishwasher, you will need to remove the front panel of the dishwasher and pull out the control panel.
The thermal fuse for GE dishwashers are typically located at the top of the circuit board . Next, take a multimeter and place the needle on the fuses contact. If you receive a reading of zero, then the fuse is fine. If not, then the fuse is the issue and will need to be replaced.

Assess The Timer Motor
The first thing you should check is the timer motor it is what regulates the dishwashers cycles from start to finish. If the timer motor isnt working properly, or at all, the dishwasher will continuously run.
After ensuring you unplugged your dishwasher or flipped off the circuit breaker switch, remove the control panel face by removing the screws on it and the latch. Open the door and remove the door panel screws and locate the timer motor.
You will see two wires at the top of the motor, remove both of them, label them with tape to tell them apart, and use an ohmmeter to assess the motor function. The setting should be on X1000 and should have a reading between 2,000 and 3,000 ohms. If the number is outside of this range, it needs to be replaced.

Incorrect Dishwasher Cycle Settings
When starting your dishwasher first make sure a cycle is selected. The dishwasher will not start until a cycle is specified. Meanwhile, certain features like the GE dishwasher child lock setting or Delay Start feature can prevent an immediate start. Check your control panel display codes to see if these settings are enabled. Holding down the Start button for 3 seconds should disable any selected cycle.
In some cases, moisture or damage to the control panel could result in the GE dishwasher display not working properly, preventing cycle selection. We recommend that a professional service assess and replace the display if necessary.
Replace The Touchpad And Control Panel
If you still havent found the cause of the problem, the next step is to test and possibly replace the touchpad and control panel. To do that:

Check The Selector Switch
This part of the dishwasher is responsible for letting you select between different options when it comes to drying, washing, etc. If your dishwasher is refusing to start, the problem could be due to the selector switch not working at all, or it might be stuck, or multiple buttons are being pressed at once. If the issue is that there is no power, you can test this with a multimeter.
If you find that the selector switch isnt working at all, find the official OEM replacement selector switch and replace the broken one with the new one.

If the door latch is broken, the door switch wont signal the dishwasher to start.
