Power Surge Or Power Cut
If there is a power surge or power cut, most GE dishwashers will need to be reset. Reset instructions will vary depending on the model and type of GE dishwasher. However, in some cases, pressing the Start/Reset button and then waiting a few minutes will get the dishwasher to reset and reboot.
For other models, after a power failure the dishwasher Start/Reset button may blink when the power is restored. Pressing the Start/Reset button once should start the drain pump to remove residual water from the dishwasher. After about a minute, the dishwasher should be back to normal and ready to be used.
If the power went out while the dishwasher was in the middle of a cycle, with most GE models, the dishwasher will remember where it was in the cycle and resume from that point.
Flashing Lights On Control Panel
Last night, I went to start my dishwasher. I pressed the Start button before noticing that I was on Pots and Pans instead of Normal. I immediately pressed the Cancel button in order to change the cycle. I heard the drain cycle start and finish, then I saw the Normal button flashing. I could not select any other cycle, and got no reaction when pressing Start. I pressed the Cancel button again, but it just started flashing as well as the Normal button. At this point, I flipped the circuit breaker off, counted to 10, and flipped it back on. This made the Cancel button stop flashing, but the Normal button kept flashing. I then checked the interior to make sure that the overfill cover moved freely, that the sprayers could all turn freely, and that the filters were clear. No change. I tried the reset procedures found elsewhere in this forum with no success. The trouble shooting guide from Whirlpool does not address anything associated with flashing lights. Ive left the door open and unlatched for 12 hours now with no change. Any suggestions that dont involve calling a repairman?
Test The Thermal Fuse
The thermal fuse prevents damage to electrical components due to overheating. If it blows, it shuts down the dishwasher. Find the thermal fuse on the control board, behind the inner door. Disconnect the two connecting wires and remove the fuse from the control panel to test it. Set the multimeter to Rx1 and touch the probes to the contacts on the fuse. This should produce a reading of zero. Replace the thermal fuse if you get any other reading.

Check That Its Restarting Itself By Waiting 2 Minutes
If power is disconnected to your GE dishwasher while its running when it starts up again it will start the cycle again. When it does it it will start the cycle by draining any water in the bottom of the dishwasher which can take 2 minutes. During this time it can beep a few times, and the lights on the start button will flash.
A momentary power cut could have occurred, and your GE dishwasher is restarting the cycle. Therefore, wait 2 minutes to see if this is what happened. Then move on to the next step.
Use The Self Diagnostics To Get Rid Of The Blinking Clean Light Issue

If it is flashing clean light, Press HEATED DRY then NORMAL then HEATED DRY then NORMAL and allow the appliance to run for about two minutes then press CANCEL/DRAIN.
Keep in mind that you should wait for the dishwater to finish the drain cycle.
If there was an insufficient water temp problem, this procedure could resolve it.

Ge Dishwasher Beeping Normal Wash
There are a few different wash settings you can set a GE dishwasher to. Before a wash cycle starts, during the wash cycle, and afterwards a GE dishwasher can beep to notify you of an issue or if the cycle has finished. On a normal wash cycle this is what to do if your GE dishwasher starts beeping.

Dishwasher Beeps And Wont Start
Answer #1: Posted by techyagent on April 18th, 2020 8:44 AM
Since the lights and sounds mean different things on different models, it is best to refer to your Owners Manual for an explanation of the various blinking lights and beeping sounds.
Beeping Sound, Blinking, and Will Not Start:
- A beeping sound every 30 seconds: Indicates the dishwasher door was unlatched during the cycle. Close the dishwasher door to resume the cycle.
- Blinking Start/Reset light: Indicates that the dishwasher has been reset and is in the process of turning off. This light will blink for 75 to 90 seconds, depending on the model. View a short video about blinking lights:
- Other blinking lights or beeping sounds: May indicate a problem with the dishwasher caused by power surges. Try pressing the Start/Reset pad to reset the dishwasher and wait 2 minutes. If the problem persists, reset the dishwasher by turning off power to the unit at the house circuit breaker/fuse box for 30 seconds. Restore power and the dishwasher should function normally.

Only Press The Start Button Once Twice Will Make It Restart And Beep
This step is a bit of general knowledge but its very easy to accidentally press the start button more than once. Especially, if youre not sure if you pressed it the first time. The start button and the restart button are the same on most GE dishwashers.
So, if you accidentally press it twice it will restart your GE dishwasher. During this time it will beep a few times for 2 minutes as it restarts.
Ge Dishwasher All Lights Flashing
When all the lights are flashing in the dishwasher, its most likely a hardware-related error. These errors will not go away on their own until you resolve the issue.
In some models with a display, you can diagnose the error by looking up the error code on the manual or the GE website.
Some common error codes are:
- C3: Dishwasher wont drain
- C6: Water temperature too low
- C7: Thermistor is not working
- C8: Detergent dispenser is blocked
- C1: Taking too long to drain the water
Some errors can go away after resetting the dishwasher and draining the water. If not, it is a hardware issue that needs immediate attention.

My Bosch Dishwashers Red Light Wont Turn Off
For those new to Bosch dishwashers, seeing a red light on the ground can be a sign of concern. After all, red is usually associated with problems.
However, in the case of Bosch dishwashers, if the red light wont turn off, that means your dishwasher is in working order. Because Bosch dishwashers are almost whisper-quiet, it can be difficult to gauge whether or not the machine is even on, let alone doing what you commanded it to do.
The red light at the bottom of the dishwasher should remain oni.e., not blink. When it turns off, that means the dishwasher has turned off or that it has just completed its wash cycle. Its only when the light begins blinking that you need to be slightly worried.
The Control Panel Is Locked

If your GE dishwashers control panel is locked, there are a few things you can do to try and fix the issue. First, make sure that the dishwasher is properly plugged in and that the circuit breaker is not tripped.
If everything looks fine there, press and hold the Start/Reset button for about three seconds. This should unlock the control panel. If that doesnt work, you may need to reset the dishwasher by unplugging it for a few minutes and then plugging it back in.

Generally, wait for 2 minutes first and see if it stops beeping on its own. If it continues to beep the door may not be closed all the way. After this, if it continues to beep then restart it by disconnecting it from the power, then refer to your owners manual to see what the specific beeping means.
During a brief or prolonged power outage a GE dishwasher will restart once the power is restored. This will cause it to beep for about 2 minutes. Below, I will explain each of these steps in more detail so you know exactly what to do, as well as show where to find your owners manual online if neither of the fixes stops your GE dishwasher from beeping.
