The first thing to check is to make sure that not only has the dishwasher been loaded correctly, but that any detergent meant to be used with the washer has perhaps remained un-dissolved.

As it could clog drain pipes and prevent water from reaching all portions of the built-in wash compartment which might explain where all that grime has gone hiding!

We will discuss here the reason for not dissolving the dishwasher pod.

    1) Inlet valve malfunction

If you not sure if your dishwasher getting water, just open the dishwasherdoorSLOWLY in 2 minutes after you press START button, to make sure you have water at the bottom of your dishwasher.

If there is no water, then most likely inlet valve failed and need replacement.

    Unclog The Sprayer Arm

The sprayer arm on most dishwashers has many openings that allow streams of water to shoot out a high pressure. When the sprayer is working properly, these streams of water can even dislodge food particles from dishes.

Since the location of the sprayer arm of a dishwasher is below the dishes in most dishwashers, the openings can become clogged by food residue and particles. The best way to unclog the sprayer arm is to visually inspect the opening and use a scrub brush or sponge to remove any debris from the openings that you see.

    The Dispenser Door Is Blocked

Another cause of why your dishwasher pods are not dissolving is when the dispenser door is blocked and doesnt open during a wash cycle. When the dispenser door doesnt open up, your pod wont drop into the water, and thus your dishes wont clean properly, and the pod will stay intact.

A blocked dispenser door can happen for a couple of reasons. First, sometimes people overstack their dishwasher, and a dish or a part of a dish can block the dispenser door from opening if this is the cause, you simply need to re-stack your dishwasher. When The Dishwasher Is In Operation Several Things Happen:

    1) Water is let in and heated to temperatures of 120-160ºF.

Hot water not only removes food particles from the dishes easier, it helps to dissolve the detergent powder or tablet in the basin.

    2) The tiny dispenser door opens and the soap powder or tablet is released.

This drops into the hot water in the basin and dissolves.

    3) Soapy water is sucked down the drain holes at the bottom, then pumped up into the rotating arms and shot out like water jets.

    4) After the wash cycle, the dishwasher drains all the soapy water.

Then the rinse cycles begin until the dishes are done and, in some cases, dried.

So, we come back to the question, Why is the dishwasher soap not dissolving completely?

    What could be the problem?

    Why Isnt My Actionpac Dissolving

If your ActionPac is not dissolving, there could be a few reasons why.

Something is blocking the dishwasher detergent cup or release door. From small utensils to large pot handles, lots of things can get in the way of the detergent dispenser, which traps your ActionPac and prevents it from dissolving fully. To avoid this issue, make sure you are correctly loading your dishwasher.

Your dishwash isnât getting any water. To check for this, put a large measuring cup or mug in your dishwasher on the top rack, open end up. Next, run your dishwasher. When the cycle is done, the cup should be completely filled with water. If itâs not, you may not be getting enough water flowing in.

Lastly, on very rare occasions, the detergent pac may stick to the dispenser cup, preventing it from being dissolved fully. This one is a little different than the dispenser door not openingâin this case, the dispenser door opens, but your ActionPac is still stuck in place. To avoid this, make sure your hands are dry when handling the detergent pac.

Following these easy steps should ensure that when you open your dishwasher, the Cascade ActionPac and the dirty messes are both completely gone.

Do Dishwasher Pods Have To Go In The Dispenser

Dishwasher detergent pods should be placed in the detergent dispenser compartment at all times.

If the pod is left at the bottom of the dishwasher, it may dissolve too quickly during the pre-wash. As a result, there would be no detergent for the main wash cycle, reducing the wash cycles efficiency.

    Check Water Inlet Valve

Mizuntitled: Bosch Dishwasher Not Dissolving Pod

A water inlet valve has a screen that catches food debris and other minerals. There is a chance that it might be damaged or loose.

To fix the water inlet valve, you need to remove it and, using hot water and soap, clean off any residue that could be clogging it. If you are still experiencing issues, you may have to replace it with a new one.

    Clogged Blocked Shut Spray Arms

Stereotypically in home appliances, clogging poses a serious threat to proper or any functioning of the machine because it causes water drainage/inlet problems.

Around the dish rack, the dishwasher arms rotate.

Sometimes what happens is that the water spray arms are clogged or blocked by some dust particles or food particles that went along in with your dishes.

Possibly youd have to pay loads of money to get a dishwasher with clogged water spray arms fixed because if the water does not spray with adequate pressure, it wont let the pod dissolve in the dishwasher.

Water Inlet Valve Clogged Or Broken

The water inlet valve is the gatekeeper between the water pump and the sprayer arm of your dishwasher. Over time, hard water can build up in the valve and clog it. The valve can even become loose or damaged, letting in less and less water to the sprayer arm over time. As we know, lack of water during the dishwasher cycle is one of the main reasons for dishwasher pods not dissolving.

Can You Put A Pod In The Dishwasher

While the pod will certainly work and usually dissolve by just throwing it in the dishwasher, this usually isnt the most effective way to clean your dishes.

Most modern dishwashers will have a pre-rinse cycle that helps to soften dried food. After the pre-rinse has finished, the detergent will be released into the full wash cycle.

If the pod is placed securely in the drawer or soap dispenser, you can ensure the pod is released at the appropriate time.

    Cleaning Your Dishwasher Soap Dispenser

Your dishwasher soap dispenser can get dirty and clogged over time with leftover food and soap residue. When this happens, your dishwasher soap may not dissolve properly, nor will it be dispensed during a cycle.

There are various ways to clean out your dispenser. Just be sure not to damage it in the process. Do not try to pull it off the latch, tug, or strain it. Remember that it is not a handle.

You can avoid buildup by cleaning your dishwasher regularly, but if you are going to be focusing on just the dispenser, you can try these methods:

    • Pour hot water in the latch to dissolve whatever is clogging your dispenser.
    • Soak the inside of your dispenser with a dishwasher-safe cleaning solution or vinegar.
    • Brush away the dirt and residue with soap and water or a dishwasher-safe cleaning solution

Whichever way you wish to clean the dishwasher dispenser, make sure it is rinsed out properly. You do not want to accidentally damage your machine or dishes the next time you run a wash cycle.

    Stay Cool With The Door

Make sure you dont open it too harshly nor shut it too abruptly because in most dishwashers the door helps the pod to drop into the water to dissolve completely.

Therefore, jamming or any malfunction of the door may keep the pod from dropping and dissolving in water.

So deal carefully, you dont wanna mess with that door.

Are Dishwasher Pods Bad For Your Dishwasher

People often report dishwasher pods damaging their dishwasher over time, which raises the question of how good a pod is for your dishwasher. People will report the pod becoming blocked or clogged before it has a chance to dissolve fully.

In reality, the bigger issue is that food grease and waste can start to build up over time in the traps and drains connected to your dishwasher. Over time, the food build-up coupled with soap scum can create clogs that can trap the undissolved dishwasher pods.

If you practice good dishwasher maintenance and regularly clean your dishwasher, using detergent pods is perfectly safe for your machine. Using a dishwasher pod is perfectly safe for the longevity of your dishwasher.

    Sprayer Arm Not Working

The sprayer arm is connected to the water inlet valve and is the mechanism that delivers water from the water pump into the dishwasher cycle by spinning and spraying. If the sprayer arm is clogged or not spinning correctly there may not be enough water reaching the soap during the cycle. A lack of water during a cycle is a cause for dishwasher soap not dissolving.

The Fix: Design Flaw Causes Pipe To Loosen B

As you can see in the in the picture above, arrow B points to the gray pipe which runs from the bottom pump along the depth of the dishwasher, and then up.

The reason why the tablet was not dissolving was that the pipe loosened up and very little water made its way up. The tablet was getting stuck at A shown above because hardly any water was sprayed around at the top.

You need to push the pipe all the way down until you hear a click. Once in the correct position proceed as usual and load the dirtiest dishes you can find. And since you made your hands dirty you might as well use the opportunity and clean the strainer filter once again, just in case. Reduced water flow due to dirty filters may also impact water pressure inside the dishwasher, which could also lead to tablets and powder not dissolving.

Shame on you Bosch, this is clearly a product design flaw that could have been easily avoided

Not Enough Water For Washing Dishes

You need to ensure that the dishwasher pump is getting enough water. If water is less than the soap will not be able to dissolve completely.

So, to verify it, you need to start the dishwasher. Now carefully open the dishwasher and check if there is enough hot water flowing inside it. Check the level of water at the bottom of the dishwasher. If the level is low, then this indicates less water issue.

If you see less water, then the possible reason is that the pump is not getting enough water. If the water supply is adequate, clean the filter at the bottom of the dishwasher. Remove all the particles stick inside the filter. Hopefully, now the pump will get enough water to run.

    The Circulation Pump Is Defective

The circulation pump in your dishwasher is responsible for distributing water around the appliance during a wash cycle. In the event this component becomes defective, the unit will be unable to work efficiently. As a result, the soap tablets wont dissolve due to an insufficient supply of water.

The easiest and most effective way to check and see if the circulation pump is defective is to see if water is being pumped into the appliance when the unit is turned on. If it is, then youll want to check to ensure that waters spraying out of the spray arms and that water is being pumped into the appliance once the dispenser door opens.

In the event that this doesnt occur, this is a sign that the circulation pump is indeed defective and requires replacement. This tends to be a difficult repair, and because of this, it is recommended to have a qualified repair technician perform the repair for you.

    The Water Temperature Is Low

One of the main reasons that the soap pods arent dissolving in your dishwasher is because the water is not heating up to a hot enough temperature. In order for the pods to dissolve properly, the temperature of the water in the dishwasher needs to be between 120 and 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

If the water fails to reach somewhere in this temperature range, for whatever reason, the soap pods will not dissolve, and the unit will simply not function accurately.

In order to determine if low water temperature is the source of your issue, you must check the units internal thermostat once the appliance has been filled with water. Most dishwashers come with a built-in thermostat, but if yours does not, an external thermostat can be used to check the temperature of the water manually.

One way to check the water manually without using the dishwasher is to use the water from your kitchen sink. Simply turn the hot water on at the faucet and fill a glass with the hottest possible water. Use a candy thermometer to check the temperature of the water.

Remember it should be no lower than 120 degrees Fahrenheit. If it is, you can first try to increase the temperature of the water as it leaves your water heater. If this does not fix the problem, then the heating element may be faulty. If this is the case, the heating element will need to be replaced, and it is a relatively simple repair to perform on your own.
