Is Yeti dishwasher safe? In this particular case, were not referring to just any Yeti coolers, but rather Yeti drinkware, such as the Yeti Rambler tumbler.

Of course, it is unlikely you will want to throw a Yeti soft or hard cooler into a dishwasher. Most of them wont fit anyway.

For tumblers, cups, mugs, jugs, bottles, etc. however, it is possible to put them in the dishwasher and get them cleaned with the rest of your dishes.

The all-important question is whether this is safe to do. The all-important answer is that it is.

But of course, such a simple answer will never suffice. So lets take a deeper look and find out just how things are.

Are Yetis Dishwasher Safe In 2022 The Truth About Yetis

Are Yetis dishwasher safe? How long can you keep them in the dishwasher? The answer to this question depends on the model you own. There are different types of Yeti products that have different materials and designs. Some come with a plastic liner and some dont. In this guide, we will go through all the models and see if they are dishwasher safe or not.

Yeti Cup Care Instructions

There are some care instructions to take note of, however. While the cup is completely safe to put in a dishwasher, the lid is definitely not! There is a rubber gasket in the lid that is needed to keep the cup airtight, which can easily become warped or damaged in the heat of a dishwasher. If this happens, your drinks will no longer be completely insulated.

So, how can you safely clean the lid? Cleaning with soap and water is the best option but take care to ensure you clean around the gasket. Mold can easily hide and grow in here. So its worth making sure you get in there and clean out all the crevices. This is another reason why its worth cleaning the lid by hand. You can ensure theres no hidden mold in there! An article by Good Housekeeping has a thorough guide to de-molding your tumblers. You should also check out the following video on how a YETI style cup almost killed this doctors patient by not keeping the lid clean.

The actual tumbler itself can easily be washed with soap and water too if you prefer to do that.

What Are The Dos And Donts Of Washing Yeti Drinkware In A Dishwasher

Can Yeti Lids Go In The Dishwasher

While the YETI drinkware can withstand a dishwasher cycle easily, it is also important for you to make sure that it is done carefully.

You wouldnt want your tumblr to be ruined after just a few cycles.

First and foremost, whenever youre tossing your drinkware in the dishwasher, remember to remove the lid.

The lids of cups, tumblers, or even bottles for that matter, are specifically designed to airtight the container. They have a rubber lining that locks in the temperature and maintains it until the container is uncapped again.

If you put the entire thing in a dishwasher, you might be at the risk of damaging your lid which will ultimately ruin the temperature maintenance of your cup or tumbler.

Your lid might also end up uncleaned in the dishwasher because of all the nooks and crannies.

Since the rubber gasket is tightly attached to the insides of the lid, a lot of dirt and other particles gather in those areas over time.

This affects the hygiene level of your liquids and can also damage your container over time, being a host for bacteria and even rust.

Therefore, it is best that you resort to cleaning the lid yourself, so that you can remove the lid manually and clean it thoroughly.

The rest of the mug can easily be managed by the dishwasher so dont worry about it and get working on the lid!

Why Were Yeti Rambler Mugs Originally Thought Not To Be Dishwasher Safe

Yeti Rambler mugs work so well at keeping beverages hot or cold because they use a vacuum seal. Between the inside metal layer of the cup and the outside metal layer is a near-perfect vacuum. This stops heat from escaping.

It was originally thought that putting your Yeti Ramblers in the dishwasher could destroy the vacuum seal, thus rendering the cup useless at retaining or keeping out heat.

But given that these cups can handle boiling water for things like Tea and Coffee it doesn’t make sense that the heat from the dishwasher would destroy the seal.

I guess ultimately Yeti did their own testing and determined that their cups could handle the dishwasher and still keep their vacuum seal.

Washing Yeti Drinkware In The Dishwasher: Specific Instructions And Care

Of course, if you just arent sure about all this, and you still feel that the dishwasher is an unsafe gadget to put your drinkware into, you are free to handwash your Yeti cups by hand. This is perfectly reasonable given the extra dollars it takes to go home with a Yeti mug.

Can you put a Yeti cup in the dishwasher? Yes

Can you put the lid in the dishwasher? Maybe

The cup, mug, or jug is tough enough to withstand the temperature in dishwashers. The double-wall steel cavity vacuum insulation will not buckle in the wild so it will not crumble in the dishwasher either.

The lid is slightly different and it is because it is so well crafted that it could deteriorate in the dishwasher. The lid is essentially the reason for the top-shelf performance and it would be advised not to put it in the dishwasher.

Washing it thoroughly is only a requirement from time to time anyway so if it has not accumulated grime, a simple hand cleaning in regular soap and water is sufficient.

If you notice that the lid needs more work, simply disassemble it and wash the components with warm water and soap.

Pay particular attention to the gasket. Most of the grime will adhere to the gasket. Rinse and allow the pieces to dry before reassembling the lid.

Some portions of the lid are too tiny to really work around properly. In this case, simply let them sit in a soap water bath for about thirty minutes.

Why are Yeti cups not dishwasher safe?

Assuming that Yeti here refers to the high-end drinkware products manufactured by a company of the same name and not the mythical creature, then yes, you can put Yeti in the dishwasher

Yeti is a Texas-based company that is best known for developing, manufacturing, and distributing sturdy exceptionally efficient coolers. On the market, Yeti is a top contender as a manufacturer of outdoor products.

Ron and Ryan Seiders founded Yeti in 2006 following a frustrating effort to find coolers that satisfactorily maintained their drinks cold as well as their catch in stellar condition in the heat of Texas.

As avid outdoorsmen, the pair combined their collective engineering and enthusiasm for outdoor activities to come up with a product that could counter this problem.

Along with a series of coolers, Yeti manufactures and sells gear targeted at fishing and hunting enthusiasts who have an eye and a need for maximum performance gear.

This includes soft-sided coolers that are more portable and a series of drinkware such as mugs and tumblers ranging in size from a small ten-ounce tumbler to their largest, a one-gallon tank.

Sometimes the dishwasher just won’t do the job, and sometimes there isn’t enough elbow grease in the world to do it yourself. For the most stubborn coffee and tea stains, Yeti makes a special cleaning tablet that can be utilized in these cases. Fill your rambler cup with warm water, pop in one tablet, and wait five minutes. Pour out the solution, then wash in a dishwasher or thoroughly hand wash prior to use. Yeti recommends using two tablets for any cup larger than 30 ounces.

Will Solo Cups Melt In The Dishwasher

The simple answer is yes. Solo cups are made from polystyrene, which will melt in a dishwasher at high temperatures. This means that if you accidentally leave your Solo cups in the dishwasher, they will likely melt and become unusable.

While melting is the most likely outcome, its not guaranteed. There are a few things you can do to increase your chances of Solo cup survival in the dishwasher.

First, make sure that you place your cups in the dishwasher properly. They should be placed upside down on the top rack so that they do not come into contact with the heating elements.

Second, make sure that your dishwasher is set to a high temperature. The default setting for most dishwashers is 140 degrees Fahrenheit, but you may want to increase this to 160 or 170 degrees if you have a dishwasher with a powerful drying cycle.

Even if you take these precautions, there is always some risk that your Solo cups will melt in the dishwasher. If this happens, you can try to salvage them by quickly running them through the dishwasher again on a lower temperature setting.

However, its important to note that there is no guarantee that this will work, and you may end up having to throw away your melted Solo cups.

So if youre at all worried about your cups melting in the dishwasher, its best to just hand-wash them instead.

How Often Should You Clean Your Yeti Cup

Its recommended to wash your Yeti cup every day. Doing this will help in getting rid of harmful microbes that could accumulate throughout the day.

You dont have to wash your cup every time you finish your entire drink. You can simply wash it by the end of the day and get it ready for the following morning.

When you notice buildups starting to set in at a specific spot in your cup, you should tackle them with Yetis deep cleaning tablets.

Simply drop one for containers less than 30 ounces and two for those above, fill with water of course, and let sit undisturbed for 5 minutes. You can leave for more minutes depending on how stained the cup is.

After that, pour away the solution and rinse thoroughly with water, then transfer the cup to the dishwasher to clean. Whatever you do, make sure to avoid getting the tablets near the lids or any other components or products aside the containers.

For rusts, you can simply polish them up withe a stainless steel cleaner.
