The Symptom: Tablet Or Soap Powder Does Not Dissolve: Dishes Dirty
Is your dishwasher driving you nuts? I was about to throw it out the window like its predecessor because patience is low these days.
Symptom #1: the tablet gets stuck in the handle area shown as A, see picture at the right.
Obviously you have already:
checked hot water temperature is above 120F
and that the strainer filter at the bottom is completely clean. This was the cause of death of my previous Bosch dishwasher. The filter needs to be religiously cleaned once a month or the pump will die prematurely.

Check The Placement Of The Dishes
If the dishwasher pod is not dissolving, it could be because a dish is stopping the detergent dispenser from opening, or blocking the pod from getting into the dishwasher tub.
If the dispenser is blocked, you will most likely find the pod still in the dispenser. Another reason you might find the pod still in the dispenser is a faulty dispenser, which we discuss below.
The dishwasher pod requires water to dissolve. If an item like a cutting board is placed in front of the dispenser, it may block the pod from getting into the dishwasher tub. If you find the pod stuck on the dishwasher door or up against the cutlery basket, it is likely that a dish blocked it from reaching the tub.
Make sure the dispenser is not blocked, and do not put items like a cutting board at the front of the dish rack to avoid the problem.
There Are Dishwashers Which You Can Turn Off The Heat Settings

Heres another fact that needs to be clarified: there are dishwashers where you can turn off the heat settings. There are claims that for this type of dishwasher since there are no heating elements involved, the permanent vinyl tumbler or mug can be placed on the top rack of the dishwasher and heat setting turned off.
That is if the decal was applied as flat as possible, wrinkle-free, and bubble-free. There are still doubts in this area, and it will depend on the vinyl brand youre working with. Thats why its better to hand wash merchandise with permanent vinyl or either apply a sealant on it.

Reasons Your Dishwasher Pods Are Not Dissolving
Dishwashers are great appliances to have, as all you have to do is fill them up with your dirty dishes, and an hour or so later, they will be completely clean and dry.
But sometimes they can become faulty, and your dishes wont come out clean.
One of the main reasons why this happens is the dishwasher pods do not dissolve, and thus your dishes will not clean.
Before we explain the causes of this problem, lets start by explaining how your dishwasher works.
- After you have filled your dishwasher up with dishes and turned it on, the dishwasher will then fill with water and heat it up to a high temperature.
- The dispenser door will then open, and the pod will drop out and dissolve in the water.
- The soapy water is then pumped up into the spray arms and distributed around the dishwasher.
- Once the wash cycle ends, the rinse cycle begins. This involves spraying your dishes with hot water to clean off the soapy water.
- Once the rinse cycle has finished, the dishwasher cycle ends and you should have clean and dry dishes.
If the dishwasher pod or powder doesnt get dissolved during the cycle, then the dishes wont clean properly. Here are the five main reasons why this can happen.
Dishwasher Pods Not Dissolving
When the dishwasher pods are not dissolving there can be a problem of low temperature. Dishwasher pods need a certain temperature to dissolve thats between 120F to 160F, when the temperature is below this range the dishwasher pods will not dissolve.
There are other factors that can also cause the pods not to dissolve, the faulty inlet valve, the spray arms being faulty and there can be problems with the door.
5 Most common factors Explain Below

Here Are Some Possible Causes:
1) Inlet valve malfunction
When your dishwasher not getting water, obviously dishwasher detergent will not dissolve at all and you will see soap in the bottom of your dishwasher when you open the door.
If you not sure if your dishwasher getting water, just open the dishwasherdoorSLOWLY in 2 minutes after you press START button, to make sure you have water at the bottom of your dishwasher.
If there is no water, then most likely inlet valve failed and need replacement.
2) Water not hot enough
One of the causes, why your dishwasher tablet is not dissolving, is that the water is not hot enough.
The normal water temperature for dishwasher tablets to dissolve is 120-160ºF.
If your dishwasher is not equipped with a thermostat or temperature monitors, then you need to check the temperature of the water manually using a thermometer .
This way you can tell if the water isnt getting hot enough to dissolve the tablet.
3) Dispenser door blocked or jammed
Another cause why your dishwasher tablets are not dissolving fully is when the dispenser door does not completely open.
The dispenser door needs to open completely for the soap tablet to drop into the hot water.
If the dishwasher tablet is not releasing properly the dispenser door might be blocked.
This can happen if your dish rack is not stacked properly and an object is preventing the door from opening.
Always make sure to stack large, long or tall items far from the dispenser door to prevent from blocking it.
5) Spray armclogged
How To Fix A Stuck Dishwasher Soap Dispenser Appliance Repair
Is your dishwasher acting up, do you need appliance repair? Dishwashers are among the most complex mechanical appliances in the modern home. Consider the racks, the spinning sprayer arms, the extending posts, and the filtered drains. Some dishwashers even have their own built-in garbage disposal. Among all the moving parts that could go wrong, the soap dispenser assembly is always in the top five. The delicate latch and close association with very viscous detergent both increase the chance for malfunctions around the soap dispenser.
Sometimes, its a small broken plastic tine, essential to the latch function. Sometimes, soap dries around the latch and crusts it in place. Sometimes, the internal mechanism just stops receiving the open signal from the automatic timer.
Today, well explore the basic ways to test and fix your dishwasher soap dispenser assembly and how to avoid appliance repair.

What You Ought To Do
Here are respective actions to take according to the exact problem your dishwasher might be into.
1. Dry your dispenser
Always post-wash, you should dry your detergent pod dispenser thoroughly to avoid stagnant water or traces of moisture in it for future cycles.
If the dispenser is moist, damp, or wet it will also wet your pod, and the trouble with your dishwasher pod being wet and stuck arises.

Pry Open With A Small Implement
If you cant get the dispenser open manually, grab a small implement like a slot screwdriver or putty knife. Use this to chip away any water residue or old detergent and press the release with the implement tip. See if this helps to manually operate the mechanism. If effective, use the implement to break away residue.

The Inlet Valve Is Faulty
Another reason that your soap tablets are failing to properly dissolve is due to a defective water inlet valve. This valve opens up and allows water into the unit during a wash cycle. Should this valve fail, the appliance wont get sufficient water, keeping the pods from dissolving.
In order to determine if the water inlet valve is defective, you simply need to switch on the dishwasher to a washing cycle. After a few minutes, press the pause button and/or slowly open the dishwasher door, and see if water is sitting in the bottom of the unit.
If there is water in the bottom of the unit, then your water inlet valve is in good working order. This means that you should move on to the next potential cause of your pods not dissolving properly.
If there is no water, this can be seen as a good or bad sign! A good sign because you know what the problem is, but a bad sign because it likely means that the water inlet valve is either clogged/blocked or faulty and requires replacement. Luckily, replacing the inlet valve is an easy DIY replacement, but if you are uncertain, contact a professional.

Spray Arms Are Not Working Properly
The dishwasher relies on the spray arms for adequate water distribution. Ensure that the spray arms rotate freely and that there are no signs of cracks or damage. Check if the nozzles are blocked – if food deposits have blocked the nozzles, you will need to detach the spray arms and thoroughly clean out the holes and bearings on the spray arms so that water flow is not obstructed. Cleaning Your Dishwasher Soap Dispenser
Your dishwasher soap dispenser can get dirty and clogged over time with leftover food and soap residue. When this happens, your dishwasher soap may not dissolve properly, nor will it be dispensed during a cycle.
There are various ways to clean out your dispenser. Just be sure not to damage it in the process. Do not try to pull it off the latch, tug, or strain it. Remember that it is not a handle.
You can avoid buildup by cleaning your dishwasher regularly, but if you are going to be focusing on just the dispenser, you can try these methods:
- Pour hot water in the latch to dissolve whatever is clogging your dispenser.
- Soak the inside of your dispenser with a dishwasher-safe cleaning solution or vinegar.
- Brush away the dirt and residue with soap and water or a dishwasher-safe cleaning solution
Whichever way you wish to clean the dishwasher dispenser, make sure it is rinsed out properly. You do not want to accidentally damage your machine or dishes the next time you run a wash cycle.
Keeping The Spray Arms Unobstructed
If the dishwasher spray arms are not positioned correctly, your dishes will not wash well. You might obstruct the spray arms if the dish rack above it covers them.
Move the spray arms to a more convenient position. This way, the water can evenly rinse over your dishes and get into the dispenser to dissolve the soap.

Faulty/ Clogged Spray Arm
Another possible cause of your dishwasher pods stopping dissolving is faulty spray arms. The primary function of spray arms is to supply/ spray water during the cleaning cycle/ rinse wash cycle.
When the food debris gets stuck inside the spray arms, they may block the spray arms and will not provide rinse aid. The other thing that makes spray arms faulty is cracks on their skin.
The best way to check the spray arm holes is to inspect them one by one, remove them, and check them one by one for cracks or blockage.
The blockage in spry arms caused by loos food can easily be removed with a wire. While for crack, you need to repair or bring the new one.
One of the major problems is that dishwasher pods stop dissolving. The best method is to identify and then fix the problem.
The dishwasher pod is better than powdered dishwasher detergent cup. Follow the above-mentioned method to check for the problem and then repair yourself or approach an electrician.
